Ternion - June 2006

  Editorial

A record number of students were caught sleeping in class between the 10th June and 10th July. No, they were not studying all night, but glued to the exciting matches of the FIFA world cup which culminated in the nail biting finale where the term ‘head butting’ was given a whole new perspective.

All this, amidst bombings, bomb threats, and bomb hoaxes, in a country where some merely view them as opportunities to stay at home, while for some families it means horrific and unfortunate death.

At S.T.C. life goes on. The all important event in the Thomian calendar- The Annual Prize Giving was held on the 7th July. The Chief Guest was Prof. Dayasiri Fernando whose oratory skills enthralled all present.

The all awaited rugby season kicked off recently. We wish Yoshitha and the team best of luck and anticipate the support of all Thomians.

This year we celebrate 50 years of Basketball at S.T.C. Members of the team shared their plans with the Ternion.

The exams are back. And the parents won’t buy your story about being preoccupied with The World Cup. So study hard right now! We wish you good!
